Mounds State Park

Mounds State Park near Anderson features 10 unique earth mounds constructed around 160 B.C. by the Adena-Hopewell people believed to be ceremonial gathering places with astronomical alignments. A modern nature center includes wildlife viewing rooms animal displays and interactive educational exhibits open daily 9am-4pm. Six marked hiking trails range from easy 1-mile loops to rugged 2.5-mile paths through forests and along the White River. The Great Mound offers scenic overlooks while lesser mounds dot the 250+ acre park. Camping with 75 electric sites youth tent areas fishing picnicking and recreational building rentals serve large groups.
